Big fan: Jon Bon Jovi came out to support his head coach friends at the Patriots/Saints pre season training camp today

Maybe he is considering a late-in-life career change.

Jon Bon Jovi turned up today at the joint pre-season training camp for American football teams the New Orleans Saints and the New England Patriots at the Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts.

But rather than considering a move from rocker to wide-receiver, the 48-year old was their to support his friends, the two team's head coaches.

Good friends: Jon has known Saints coach Sean Payton (right) and Patriots coach Bill Belichick (left) for years

Both Sean Payton of the Saints and Bill Belichick of the Patriots are good pals of the Bon Jovi singer.

In fact, Payton has claimed that the singer was integral in the progression of his career as he was at a Bon Jovi concert when he got offered the top job at the Saints.

Somewhere between 'Living on a Prayer' and "You Give Love a bad name,' Payton's phone rang and it was Saints manager Mickey Loomis.

(Bon Jovi ) was singing. And Mickey (Loomis) was like, "Hey, I want you to become the next head coach of the Saints." and I said, I’m in,”’ Payton recalled.

'Then I walked back in and Beth (his wife) looked at me, and I just said, ‘Hey, we’re going to New Orleans. Sit down and enjoy the rest of the show.'

The pair had actually met several years previously when Bon Jovi was the assistant coach of a youth team and Payton was assistant coach of the New York Giants.

'They came over to use one of our bubbles,' Payton told the Boston Herald.

Jon, a huge football fanatic, and Belichick have been friends since Bill coached the NY Giants as Jon is a life long Giants fan.

He also co-owns pro-bowl team the Philadelphia Soul.
