'Stressed': Carly Cole carries a crying Ruby into the Hilton hotel in Liverpool, while husband Joe - who missed a penalty kick - pushes his luggage on a trolley

After a bad day at the 'office' Joe Cole was probably hoping for some quiet respite at home.

But the Liverpool midfielder was back on parenting duty with a very grumpy Ruby, five months, just hours after missing a penalty in the match against Trabzonspor last night.

Wife Carly, 26, wearing a checked jacket and satin black trousers, was said to be looking 'stressed' as baby Ruby cried loudly on the family's journey back to the Hilton Hotel.

The Coles are staying at the five-star city centre hotel while they finalise the sale on their £2.6million home in Formby, Merseyside.

The couple, who married in 2009, have relocated from London, where Joe played for Chelsea.

It's been a bad week all round for Joe, who was found guilty on Wednesday of speeding at 105mph on a 70mph road in Claygate, Surrey, last November.

Just three days earlier, on Sunday, he was red-carded in his first-ever match for Liverpool.

He was sent off after just 47 minutes after lunging at Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny near the touchline.

At least he took full responsibility for his poor penalty kick last night.

He said: 'I was 13 the last time I took a spot-kick and I scored, but this was a bad penalty.

'Never mind the keeper being off his line, it was a bad one, I've got to hold my hands up.'
