That's special! Jose Mourinho masters Messi and shows Arsenal how it's done

Special win: Jose Mourinho celebrates with his Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder after Inter Milan's comprehensive victory over Barcelona

Jose Mourinho last night proved why he is the ‘Special One’ by masterminding a remarkable victory over Barcelona and taking Inter Milan a step closer to the Champions League final.

The former Chelsea boss managed to accomplish what Arsenal failed to do and stop Lionel Messi in a 3-1 semi-final, first leg rout at the San Siro. The Argentina forward was swarmed out of the game by the no-nonsense Italians.

Mourinho hailed his side’s achievement but was unhappy that Barca complained about the referee. There were reports of an incident involving the official in the tunnel after the game.

The Inter boss said of Barca, who had five players booked: ‘They should lose like champions.’

However, Mourinho refused to agree that Inter Milan will be one of the Champions League finalists. The Nerazzurri go to the Nou Camp next Wednesday with a substantial advantage, but Mourinho says his side's chances are still only 50/50.

Wizard: Inter managed to keep Lionel Messi quiet at the San Siro

'Anything can happen in the return leg,' he said. 'We can go there and win, we can go there and not win but go through, we can go there and lose the game and lose the tie.

'Anything can happen. Yesterday I said 50/50, now it is not 51/49, it remains 50/50.
'What happened today has happened. It was not a dream, it was the reality. We won and deserved to win.

'This is the only fact from today's game, but there is a game to play in the second leg and I don't change my percentage from what I said yesterday.'
