Double trouble for Manchester United with Didier Drogba fit to start in Chelsea's Old Trafford title showdown

Predator: Didier Drogba has netted 30 times for Chelsea so far this season

Chelsea have been handed a major boost ahead of their Barclays Premier League title showdown with Manchester United after the Blues' star striker Didier Drogba was passed fit for the clash at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The news comes as a further blow to United, who today confirmed that Wayne Rooney had suffered minor ligament damage to his right ankle, meaning the England man will be out of action for several weeks and will miss the crucial matches against Chelsea this week and the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Bayern Munich.

Chelsea had been sweating over 30-goal top-scorer Drogba's fitness after the Ivory Coast international missed last weekend's 7-1 thumping of Aston Villa, with Carlo Ancelotti blaming fatigue and an accumulation of bumps and bruises for his omission.

Drogba had also been forced to sit out the last two days of training after picking up a knock to the knee after a collision with Yuri Zhirkov.

More to follow.
