Now Serena Williams wears a really wild outfit to cheer on sister Venus (who is still wearing THAT dress)

Tight fit: Serena Williams gives herself little room to manoeuvre in a clingy animal print dress at the US Open

The Williams sisters are well known for their competitiveness on the court. But it seems they're not averse to a little battle in the sartorial stakes either.

After Venus, 30, made a stunning appearance on court yesterday at the U.S Open in a black sheer tank dress, sister Serena, 28, went for a wild animal print dress today that certainly made her stand out from the crowd.

Serena wore an ultra clingy leopard print dress which hugged her every curve.
She also wore huge earrings and flashed her bling-tastic manicure as she sat courtside with friends and mother Oracene.

And even though Venus today chose to wear a brighter pink version of the unusual tennis outfit, it didn't prove quite as eye-catching as Serena's wild number.

However Venus is unlikely to mind Serena hogging the attention as yesterday she was also full of praise for 28-year-old Serena, currently the world's number one female player.

After Serena turned up to her third round match against Mandy Minella on Friday night. in a clinging red dress, she tweeted: ‘Serena is looking rather sexy tonight.'

It was respectable the Eighties: The sisters mother Oracene's mullet hairstyle was turning heads too... for all the wrong reasons

Venus’s choice of attire for her third-round match at the US Open provoked quite a reaction.

Venus, whose outfits have often raised eyebrows in the past, was playing at Flushing Meadows in New York.

And she told fans: ‘So far this year my outfits have been based on the cities that I play in. This outfit was supposed to be about New York. It’s like bursts of fireworks.’

Venus has worn different dresses for each of her three appearances so far in the current tournament, and hopes to continue that trend as far as the final.

‘Seven is a lot of dresses. It would be an honour to wear seven dresses all the way through,’ she said.

Full stretch: Williams beat 16th-seeded Shahar Peer 7-6 (3), 6-3, and will face French Open champion Francesca Schiavone for a semi-final spot

She got through a tougher-than-expected test against Israel's Shahar Peer to reach the U.S. Open quarter-finals for the 10th time.

The No. 3-seeded Williams beat the 16th-seeded Peer 7-6 (3), 6-3 Sunday, and will face French Open champion Francesca Schiavone for a semi-final spot.

'Winning the first set always feels good,' said Williams, whose younger sister Serena watched from the stands, 'instead of having to regroup and figuring out how you're going to win the match.'

Two-time U.S. Open champion Williams is playing in her first tournament in more than two months, having missed time with a left kneecap injury that forced her to skip a pair of hard-court tune-up events.
