Sunken failure: John Terry dressed as a pirate with a fake red scar and two black eyes painted on his face while on holiday in Disney World

Dressed a pirate with a fake scar and black eyes painted on England defender John Terry attempted to get over his World Cup defeat by amusing his family on holiday at Disney World in Florida.

The defender, 29, forgot all about the 4-1 defeat by Germany which saw England crash out of the World Cup on June 27.

Terry flew out his children and wife Toni, 28 to the Magic Kingdom in Orlando where he was spotted showing off his pulling powers by pretending to lift King Arthur's Sword In The Stone at the park.

One onlooker observed: 'John had more chance of lifting that sword than ever getting his hands on the World Cup.

'He was grimacing a lot but the children were having a ball'

England lost to Germany amid outrage in the England camp over a disallowed goal.

Fabio Capello's men were outplayed by a young German side but the Italian instead blamed the officials for the exit after Frank Lampard had a perfectly good goal ruled out with the score at 2-1.

Meanwhile team-mate Wayne Rooney was sweltering in the sun in Barbados.

The 24-year old had covered his forehead in suncream while enjoying a round of golf on the exotic Caribbean island.

He jetted out with wife Coleen and nine-month old son Kai following the England team's early exit from the World Cup in South Africa.

They are staying on the exclusive 500-acre Royal Westmoreland development in a luxurious £5 million mansion which boasts a cinema room, jacuzzi, gym and infinity pool.
