Playful tug: Mate pulls at Tish Cyrus's cardigan as daughter Noah struggles to control him on his lead


It's hard to believe that this big white beast was a mere fluffy pup just under a year ago.

But Miley Cyrus's German Shepherd Mate has certainly grown up in the short time he has been with the Cyrus clan - and is now so big the family are struggling to control him.

MIley's mother Leticia - who goes by the name Tish - and her little sister Noah looked as though they had their hands full as they took the playful pooch out for a walk yesterday.

The year-old dog tugged at Tish's cardigan with its teeth as they took him out by their home in Toluca Lake, California.

And poor 10-year-old Noah struggled to hold onto his as he pulled her along by his lead.

But Tish and her younger daughter saw the funny side to the pup's playful mood and they laughed at his antics as they went for their walk.

Mate arrived into the Cyrus family this January, and Miley was snapped hugging her new pride and joy when he was just nine weeks old.

He joined Miley's other dog, a Maltipoo named Sophie.

Mate's playfulness also appeared to be a good distraction for Tish after it was revealed in October that her country and western singer husband Billy Ray had filed for divorce from her after 17 years of marriage.

Billy Ray, 49, famous for the 1992 hit Achy Breaky Heart, filed papers today in Tennessee citing irreconcilable differences.

'As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family,' the couple said in a joint statement to People magazine.

'We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.'

Billy Ray is seeking shared custody of the couple's three minor children - Miley, Braison and Noah.

Documents show he is also asking for an 'equitable distribution of the marital estate.'
