Bag man: Steven Gerrard and wife Alex arrive at Birmingham Airport en route to a break in Dubai with their daughters

Alex Gerrard and husband Steven will be forced to put their third anniversary celebrations on hold because of the World Cup tournament.

But they made sure to squeeze in some family time at a luxury resort in Dubai before the highly anticipated tournament begins.

And the holiday will go some way to scotching rumours of a rift between them.

Alex and Steven were seen with a ton of luggage at Birmingham International Airport and their two children Lillie Ella, six, and Lexie, four, as they headed to catch a flight to Dubai.

Both were proudly wearing their wedding rings.

The couple are looking forward to their third anniversary which is coming up in June. But Alex has accepted that the celebrations will have to be low key this year.

Looking stern-faced England international Gerrard took charge of the family's three Louis Vuitton cases, while Alex took charge of her classic Chanel handbag.

She told OK! magazine: 'Steven will still be going away with England in South Africa for the World Cup so we'll probably do something when he gets back - we could definitely have a second honeymoon somewhere.

But don't feel too sorry for them as the postponed celebrations will take place in their newly built villa in Portugal.

Alex said: 'We'll definitely go to Portugal because our new villa will be finished and then Steven and I might go somewhere else without the girls because we don't get that much quality time alone.'

The couple have recently weathered rumours that their marriage has hit a bad patch. Last week Alex was in good spirits as she arrived at the launch of the Warehouse Kitchen and Bar in Southport, Steven's new business.

Pictures of the WAG not wearing her wedding ring fuelled speculation that all was not well between her and England star Gerrard, with whom she has two children Lilly-Ella, six, and Lexie, three.

But at the launch she gushed: 'I'm dead proud of him.' And Gerrard said about his relationship with Alex: '...we were lucky from day one the relationship has been very good.'
