Hairy situation: Nicole Scherzinger reveals her strange Star Wars inspired hairdo on the set of Men in Black 3 in New York

From the look of her coiled hair, it's clear that Nicole Scherzinger means business.

The Pussycat Dolls performer was spotted sporting a rather unique hairdo as she made her way to the set of Men in Black 3 in New York City.

Known not just for her killer dance moves and amazing voice, Nicole is also recognized by her long black hair.

However, for her role in the movie, Nicole has had her flowing mane tamed and pulled into a tight, glossy, severe updo with two large black knots perched atop her head.

Her unique headdress appears to be the 21st century version of Carrie Fisher's infamous Princess Leia style in Star Wars, which came out in 1977.

Nicole's wild hairdo was offset with severely arched eyebrows, thick eyeliner, heavy false lashes and hot pink lipstick.

Villainous vixen: Nicole plays an evil character called Lilly

Space hairdos: Who wore it best? Carrie Fisher in 1977's Star Wars or Nicole Scherzinger in 2010's Men in Black?

Little is known about the exact role that Nicole plays in the third instalment of the Men in Black series, but she did reveal that she has been cast in a very small part as a villain named Lilly.

'I'm so excited because I get to die. I make an appearance. I say a couple of lines and then I die,' Nicole told celebrity website E Online!

Scherzinger's career has definitely been on the rise.

The singer won the latest season of Dancing with the Stars, recently played the role of Mimi in the Hollywood Bowl production of rent, for which she received rave reviews, and is set to release her new solo album.

She has also been offered a role by Simon Cowell as a judge on the British talent show The X-Factor, after a successful stint as a guest judge on the show.

For now, though, she's filming her cameo for Men In Black 3. Others in the cast include Emma Thompson and Tommy Lee Jones, both of whom were pictured filming in New York.
