Florists have recreated an extraordinary portrait of singer Lily Allen - using 1800 lilies.

The team of six flower experts spent nine hours arranging the blooms in an Andy Warhol style design ahead of the star's wedding on Saturday.

The unusual six by ten feet picture, a collaboration by florist McQueens and The Flower Council of Holland, is made of Asiatic lilies, which represent romance, femininity and purity.

Hannah Martin, wedding and events manager for McQueens, commented: 'This delicate pop art inspired 'lily portrait' was created to celebrate her life and her future happiness with her new husband.

'The unique symbolism of these beautiful flowers - love, purity and femininity - made lilies an obvious choice for such an inspiring and iconic woman.

'In fact they are so perfect for her that we wouldn't be surprised if Lily chooses lilies as part of her bridal bouquet.'

The singer is preparing to tie the knot with builder Sam Cooper at a church in Cranham, Gloucester - not far from their isolated £3 million home.

The church choir has been booked and flowers arranged locally for what is understood to be a morning wedding on June 11.

The road which runs past the tiny church and surrounding public footpaths will be closed by police from 7.30am to around 1pm, with only the wedding party, guests and residents allowed through.

The church is expected to host guests such as Glastonbury boss Michael Eavis, and actress Jaime Winstone.

But unlike other Cranham brides, Lily will be wearing a bespoke wedding dress by Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld and shoes by Rupert Sanderson.

Afterwards, she is said to be hosting a ‘cricket tea’ at home.

Lily hit the town for her hen do last month with rather civilised evening at the Savoy Grill on The Strand with a group of girlfriends.

Busy Lily also launched her new ready-to-wear collection from her boutique Lucy In Disguise at Harvey Nichols.
